The Church has a
growing children's and young people's ministry. The
Church leadership takes seriously its responsibility
to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and
young people entrusted to the church's care.
We, as a church,
take our responsibilities towards children very seriously.
We will aim to provide a safe and secure environment
in which the nurture and development of children can
take place within the Christian Faith.
We are committed
to:
- listening to, relating
effectively and valuing children and young people,
whilst ensuring their protection within church
activities
- Encouraging and supporting
parents/carers.
- Ensuring that Children's
and Youth workers are given support and training
- Having a system for
dealing with concerns about possible abuse
- Maintaining good links
with the Statutory child care authorities.
We, as a church,
have a Child Protection Policy logged with the Churches'
Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS).
We ensure that all
children's and youth workers are CRB checked through
Criminal Records Bureau and the Disclosure Service.
During the Wednesday
evening activities we
- Have a security person
controlling access to the premises
- Have a leader accompany
each child from the two younger groups to the
main toilet door
- Maintain a ratio of
at least 1 leader to every 8 children
Owing to regular
changes to the Child Protection Policy we are holding
ongoing training with all children's workers.
